Chiropractic Therapies

At Lakeside Chiropractic, we offer other treatments besides spinal adjustments for neck and back pain.

Chiropractors use many different types of therapies besides spinal manipulation (spinal adjustment) to treat neck and back pain. Like other types of spine specialists, doctors of chiropractic (DC) perform a thorough physical and neurological evaluation of the patient to diagnose the cause of spine-related pain. Diagnosis of the spinal disorder is essential to the patient’s chiropractic treatment plan. Common treatments chiropractors recommend include therapeutic exercise and stretching, spinal traction, manual soft tissue therapy, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS), ultrasound, diet and nutritional counseling, and lifestyle modification.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a form of deep heat therapy created by sound waves. Mechanical vibration at increasing frequencies is known as sound energy. The normal human sound range is from 16 Hz to something approaching 15-20,000 Hz (in children and young adults). Beyond this upper limit, the mechanical vibration is known as ultrasound. The frequencies used in therapy are typically between 1.0 and 3.0 MHz (1 MHz = 1 million cycles per second). Therapeutic ultrasound when applied to soft tissues and joints, the sound waves are a form of micro-massage that help reduce swelling, increase blood flow and circulation, increase mobility and decrease pain, stiffness, and muscle spasms. Additionally, the application of ultrasound can be helpful in the reduction of inflammation, reducing pain and the healing of injuries and wounds.

Muscle Stimulation

Administered to decrease muscle spasm, improve joint pain and swelling, reduces stress and discomfort, and improves blood flow and circulation.

Therapeutic Stretching & Rehab

Stretching and strengthening techniques applied to all parts of the bodies for all injuries. Following an injury, therapeutic stretching is an important way to prevent scar tissue from forming. Even after the spinal injury has healed, maintaining a regular stretching program helps keep tissues flexible, increases mobility, and protects you from new injuries. As with exercise, your chiropractor will instruct you on proper stretching techniques and will supervise you until you are comfortable enough to do them on your own.

Kinseo Taping

Kinseo taping can provide a variety of benefits to those experience discomforts or recovering from an injury. Benefits can include pain relief, reduced swelling and inflammation, accelerated recovery from bruising and contusions, prevented or relieved cramping and spasms, and supports injured muscles and joints without restricting patients range of motion.
